This amazing antique jet bead necklace dates to the Victorian period, circa 1870. Each bead is perfectly matched, with a smooth and round exterior and they're hung on a black string thread. It fastens with a screw barrel clasp and has a wearable length of 24 inches. 

Queen Victoria, was known for her strong influence on fashion and culture in England. During the long mourning period after the death of her beloved husband, Prince Albert, she wore only black attire and jewellery. Her gemstone of choice? Jet. Even though it was tied to  "mourning", I think everyone can appreciate the allure of jet.
